LTS and Common European Framework (CEF) Level Descriptions
| 5/C2 | Is confident and effective in international meetings and discussions covering a wide range of subjects. Needs no assistance although recognisable as a non-native speaker of English. May need to refine skills and techniques for highly specialised tasks. |
| 4/C1 | Makes a good contribution to meetings and discussions, and can present information clearly and accurately. Makes some language errors but these do not affect communication. Needs to develop greater range, style and appropriacy of expression. |
| 3/B2 | Can participate in meetings and discussions, but will sometimes have difficulty fully understanding native speakers of English. Needs to improve fluency, accuracy, vocabulary and confidence. |
| 2/B1 | Can understand and give simple instructions and exchange information in routine situations, and can use English in a limited way. Needs to improve grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and confidence. |
| 1/A2 | Can carry out some simple tasks, but has little grammar or vocabulary. Needs to improve in all areas, especially speaking and understanding. |
